Albertans love parks

Love Alberta parks

Like many of you, we were deeply disappointed by the news that Alberta's government is closing 20 provincial parks and deregulating more than 160 others or handing them over to third-party managers. This, in addition to reducing or closing campgrounds and reducing services such as setting of cross-country ski trails in Kananaskis Country.

Parks are places meant to enjoy, make memories and create adventures to be treasured for years. They are an integral part of Albertan's experience in nature and we fear this will limit one of the ways people enjoy one of our greatest shared resources.

What's more, as Albertans look for safe outdoor activities during a pandemic, we need parks, trails and campgrounds more than ever.

Will you sign the petition calling on the government to stop cuts to Alberta’s provincial parks? Show you #LoveAlbertaParks now.

Dear Premier Kenney and Minister Nixon,

I love Alberta’s parks. Your government's decision to cut the budget and close or deregulate almost 200 parks in the province will affect Albertans and visitors looking to experience our amazing landscapes and recreation. They also ignore the environmental value that many of these areas provide towards a healthy, functioning landscape.

Please stop this short-sighted move.
